Recently, Google has announced that they will no longer support storing unlimited photos in the high resolution format for free.

This bothered me a little bit, because google photo storage is so convenient that I use it a lot and therefore would be affected by their data cap. Additionally, I’m particularly sensitive to changes in terms of service from providers and I’ve already had a data loss scare related to personal photos.

This made me reconsider my current photo backup solution and I’ll show you, through a series of how to articles, how I migrated my data back to my NAS and synchronized my new photos to my NAS from my phone. I can then leverage my cloud backup solution to make sure that I have an on premises backup and a cloud backup in case of a disaster.
