Installing Docker and Portainer on Your Synology NAS
full course- Why Use Docker on Synology?
- Installing Docker on Synology DSM
- Installing Portainer in Docker on Synology
Docker is a very useful tool that will allow us to quickly expand the usefulness of our NAS. It has very similar functionality to the Package Center. However, docker runs its applications inside virtual machines and not directly on the NAS hardware. This means that the applications are self contained and you will not have to install or manage dependencies that the application may have.
Lets get started: Load the Synology DSM and login. Locate the package center and open it up.
Type docker in the search bar and locate the docker package
Install the package!
