In these cases we&#8217;ll need to login to the server directly through a shell interface.  In order to do that we&#8217;ll need an SSH (Secure SHell) client.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to SSH into our server we&#8217;ll use a software called PuTTY (which can be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chiark.greenend.org.uk\/~sgtatham\/putty\/latest.html\">downloaded here<\/a>).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PuTTY has a fairly simple and straightforward user interface, but we&#8217;ll walk through it for the people who are unfamiliar with SSH (and PuTTY).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open up PuTTY, type your NAS IP address in the Host Name box (or you can use the server name), leave the port as 22 (which is the default SSH port) and hit the open button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"454\" height=\"440\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bullyrooks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image.png?resize=454%2C440&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-577\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bullyrooks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image.png?w=454&amp;ssl=1 454w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bullyrooks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image.png?resize=300%2C291&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 454px) 100vw, 454px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Use your login (which for your synology server should be your admin name\/password).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>login as: brian\r\nbrian@raid-station's password:\r\nbrian@raid-station:~$\r<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s it.
