The nice part of this solution is that you can use both google photos as well as your NAS for data synchronization, so if you decide that you don&#8217;t like or want to sync to your NAS, you&#8217;ll never miss a beat continuing to use the google photos solution (and you have yet another backup of your photos).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Install DS File onto your Android Device<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>First, <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.synology.DSfile\">install DS File onto your device using the play store<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, you&#8217;ll want to log into the application using your synology quick connect ID and your administrator username and password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, quickly make a directory in your home account on the NAS where you will store your photos.  I have a special backup directory in my home directory (<code>\/volume1\/brian\/b2-backup<\/code>) and so I created a folder under that ((<code>\/volume1\/brian\/b2-backup\/camera-backup<\/code>).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now from the DS File application, go to the menu (3 bars in the top left corner)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"616\" height=\"454\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bullyrooks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-8.png?resize=616%2C454&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1050\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bullyrooks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-8.png?w=616&amp;ssl=1 616w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bullyrooks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-8.png?resize=300%2C221&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 616px) 100vw, 616px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Then select photo backup<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"460\" height=\"547\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bullyrooks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-9.png?resize=460%2C547&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1051\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bullyrooks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-9.png?w=460&amp;ssl=1 460w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bullyrooks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-9.png?resize=252%2C300&amp;ssl=1 252w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Now configure your photo sync.  Point backup destination to the photo backup directory you just created on your NAS.  Set backup source to be the DCIM folder (default location where newly taken photos show up).  I chose upload on WiFi when I didn&#8217;t have an unlimited data plan (but I do now and will change this).  I do not check upload photos only because if you do, you won&#8217;t sync video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"389\" height=\"843\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bullyrooks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-10.png?resize=389%2C843&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1052\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bullyrooks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-10.png?w=389&amp;ssl=1 389w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bullyrooks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-10.png?resize=138%2C300&amp;ssl=1 138w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 389px) 100vw, 389px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s it.  Every new photo and video you take should now sync from your phone to your NAS.  You should definitely test it to confirm.
