Next we&#8217;re going to mount it from the NAS so that we can start syncing files to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On your PC, we&#8217;re going to want to share the external drive. Share this drive as <code>extbackup<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"355\" height=\"232\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bullyrooks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-1.png?resize=355%2C232&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1034\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bullyrooks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-1.png?w=355&amp;ssl=1 355w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bullyrooks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-1.png?resize=300%2C196&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 355px) 100vw, 355px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Now we&#8217;re going to mount this drive from the NAS.  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.synology.com\/en-global\/knowledgebase\/DSM\/help\/FileStation\/mountremotevolume\">Synology&#8217;s directions are here<\/a>.  If you&#8217;re on Windows, use the CIFS file mount instructions.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mount the USB drive inside your home directory as <code>extbackup<\/code>.  Use the IP address of your PC on your network as the remote server and <code>extbackup<\/code> for the remote folder path (i.e.  <code>192.168.1.101:\/extbackup<\/code>).  Map this to <code>\/extbackup<\/code>.
